We rode bicycles about a mile to Cua Dai beach, where the owner of the hotel also owns a restaurant and we could use the beach chairs and shower. The bike ride was an adventure. The narrow road runs along a canal and rice paddies with lots of scooters and traffic. The beach was a bit of a disappointment because there was an enormous snake sandbag between the chairs and the water (to protect the beach from further erosion. The water was refreshing and clear, but no sign of fish life.
Around 11:30, we rode back to the hotel and took the shuttle back into town for more exploring.
We visited the MinHuong Communal House with its lovely courtyard and shrine.
We saw the outside of the Quan Am Pagoda, saw lantern frames delivered, and had a lovely lunch beside the river.
Women in Vietnam cover themselves completely when they ride their scooters to protect their skin from the sun.
We returned to the hotel for a break and returned for dinner and the night light show.
Paper lotus lanterns are floated on the water for good luck.
